A RAND Corporation survey found teachers spend an average of 1.3 hours per day on administrative tasks outside of instruction. That is time your child’s teacher is not spending with your child. AI tools redirect some of that time back to direct instruction — especially valuable for children who need more individualized attention.

At the instruction level: AI generates personalized learning paths based on where each student actually is, not where the curriculum assumes they are. For a child developing reading skills at a different pace, or working through attention challenges, that kind of individualization previously required a one-on-one tutor. AI tools extend a version of that to whole classrooms.

Brain-imaging studies from Shaywitz at Yale and Temple at Stanford tracked children receiving targeted reading intervention and found the brain physically rewires. The same reading pathways that develop in typical readers develop in children with dyslexia — but only when the support hits the right spot, at the right time, in the right way. The brain changes most in response to precisely targeted practice, not repetition of something that is not working.

AI tools do not replace that targeted intervention. What they do is something teachers have not had time to do manually at scale: identify exactly where each child’s support needs to land. A teacher who knows in advance that a specific child is struggling with phonological processing — not comprehension, not fluency, but specifically phonological processing — is equipped to apply the right method. That is the alignment the infographic is pointing at when it mentions “targeted support that aligns with neuroplasticity.”
