Learning disabilities are becoming more recognized in the field of education as politicians and school officials work to improve learning nationwide. Illinois purposed a new law targeting teachers specifically in the hopes of improving awareness regarding dyslexia. This new law will extend extra learning services to dyslexic students and create a temporary reading group to help educate teachers on how to work with these students. Often, poor attention and grade results are mistaken for other reasons, causing dyslexic students to fall through the cracks. The International Dyslexia Association states that dyslexia causes poor spelling, reading composition, and writing in general.
