Neurosciences researchers strive to find out how emotions begin in the brain and what the connection is between instinct, intelligence and emotion. The aim of this research is to investigate the signals given off by different emotional styles with a view to learning how to retrain the brain. There are six emotional dimensions that affect the way we behave; Resilience, outlook, self-awareness, social interactions, sensitivity to context and attention. The emotional functions of the brain are interwoven and all of the major areas of the brain are involved in processing emotions as follows: The right hemisphere is responsible for emotional and artistic expression. The cerebrum controls and relates to emotions. The limbic system controls primitive, survival-based emotions. The frontal lobe masterminds complex, mental processes including emotions. The pre-frontal cortex is responsible for abstract analysis and the exercise of judgment.
