Circle of Inclusion: An Emphasis on Repetition

Monterssori education emphasizes the value of repetition as children learn new concepts. The amount of repetition needed to internalize concepts is different for every child, and one of the tenets of this style of education is that children already know a great deal about what tools and how much time they need to learn.

Practice is not just for the arts. Einstein took ten years of repetitive thought and practice to formulate his E=MC2 theory of relativity. And it took another 20 years of experimenting and practice to validate his theory.

An example of learning tools that encourage repetition and self-paced learning is Sentence Analysis. After children train to recognize the grammatical functions of words through the use of symbols, they work with distinct parts of sample sentences first to determine their function and then to identify other grammatical features such as parts of speech.
