Transforming Personal Challenges into Resilience
Research shows that personal health challenges can significantly foster resilience and a deeper understanding of oneself. Dr. Kate Lond, a clinical psychologist and guest on the ADHD Kids Can Thrive podcast, shared her journey with a medical condition called hydrocephalus, which required frequent hospital visits and surgical procedures. Despite the hardships, she learned to focus on what she could do rather than what she couldn’t, which became a cornerstone of her approach to life and her work.

Building on these insights, Dr. Lond’s experiences highlight how overcoming personal obstacles can lead to a greater capacity to help others. Her early involvement in volunteer work during high school and college was driven by this newfound resilience. This not only shaped her career but also her approach to parenting, emphasizing the importance of resilience in nurturing her twin boys through their own life journeys.
