Here are some of the fundamental guidelines of early childhood education, as compiled by the National Association for the Education of Young Children in honor of Week of the Young Child (April 22-28). Play is where learning begins; play can be creative, joyful, and wonderful time spent with friends. Respect cultural differences and nurture empathy. Encourage involvement in extracurricular activities and after-school programs. Teach healthy fitness habits and nutritional awareness. Strive to create an environment of openness, and be responsive in your care giving. And most of all, remember that these are the magical years!
