What Are MTSS and SPED?
MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Support) is a school-wide framework that supports all students with a three-tiered approach: Tier 1 (universal support), Tier 2 (targeted interventions), and Tier 3 (intensive support). Studies show it improves academics, behavior, and graduation rates (American Institutes of Research).
SPED (Special Education) serves students with disabilities via Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), with 15% of students aged 3-21 qualifying (National Center for Education Statistics).
MTSS and SPED collaborate to meet every child’s needs.
