The Myth of Learning Styles begins by providing a brief overview of the main seven learning styles: intrapersonal, interpersonal, aural, visual, kinesthetic, verbal, a mathematical. These seven learning styles have been argued to be a benefit to both student and teacher when identified in the classroom. The truth is there hasn’t been a study that has proven this approach to improve the student’s ability to learn the information at hand. The infographic provides a number of other factors that contribute to a student’s ability to understand information. The abundance of factors reveals how changing one’s approach based on an established learning style is a very small change in a dynamic web of contributing factors. The infographic closes by restating their main point: there is no correlation between learning styles and successful learning.
