In a world of technology, literature is still important. As the sales of video games and movies rise, it would seem that the world has forgotten just how critical reading is. Studies have shown that the earlier children are exposed to reading the better grades in school, and the more they are willing to continue engaging in reading. An early exposure to literature gives children an advantage in school and life. Studies have shown that children as early as kindergarten age show interest in reading books outside of school. As technology advances so must the literacy rate. Even if eBooks are the future a child still must have the ability to read and the desire. It is up to us as parents and educators to instill in our children and the future generations the importance of literature and how valuable it is. All in all, literature will always be important to the foundations of our society. No matter how technologically advanced we become literacy is a key.
