Humans hold a unique desire to understand and interpret the world around us. Throughout the years, we have created devices that have assisted us in processing important information. Beginning in 2700 B.C., the Sumerians developed the first abacus which allowed for the visual interpretation of our arabic number system. Moving forward inventions like the octant, slide rule, geiger counter, see and say and the tricorder have all aided in human technology development. In modern times, our cell phones, iPads and graphic calculators have led the way to our knowledge and understanding even further.
