Expanding Your Horizons is a program at MTSU which allows young girls, who may be interested in pursuing a career in one of the STEM fields, to interact with women who have already established successful careers in science and engineering. The program also includes workshops and hands-on activities to reinforce the concepts learned there.

Girls expanding their horizons and dreaming bigger
The keynote speaker, Dr. Rhea Seldon, a retired hall of fame astronaut, spoke about her childhood dream of becoming an astronaut and how she persevered in achieving it, despite having a hard time getting through college and medical school on her way to applying to NASA. She told the girls to have faith in themselves in order that they succeed in fulfilling their own dreams.
