Excellent students with their eyes on furthering their education may not receive adequate time to prepare. Accelerated classes at Santa Monica High School have been cut. Parents and students are concerned due to the Common Core standards that only require three years of math. This may encourage kids to not take a fourth year and prevents students from being properly preparing for the SAT and ACT. This development has inspired parents to lobby against the school systems and a proposal for a better future is in the works.
