More than one-fifth of children suffer from math anxiety, researchers have found that the fear they feel is real and activates the amygdala of their brains, just like when they experience other types of anxiety and fear. Interestingly, they found that the anxiety has little to do with their math ability. Although the tutoring session didn’t improve their ability, it did improve their confidence.
