Breakthrough Research Reveals Personalized Math Support

A May 2025 study published in the European Journal of Investigation in Health, Psychology and Education demonstrates that adaptive technology platforms can significantly improve mathematical learning for children who process numbers differently. The research team developed EDSense, an intelligent tutoring system that customizes math instruction based on each child’s unique learning patterns.

Researchers assessed 158 children aged 6-10 using standardized tools, then worked intensively with 44 fourth-grade students who scored below the 40th percentile in mathematics. The platform uses Dynamic Bayesian Networks to track how each student’s understanding evolves, adjusting instruction in real-time rather than following a one-size-fits-all curriculum.
