Now that the data is in on some of the bills passed in Texas concerning math requirements to graduate high school, it is showing there are gaping holes in the educational system. Because of the bills requiring fewer maths in school, students are leaving unprepared for the skills they will need in the world.

As some states are requiring fewer maths, experts say students need more.
There needs to be more rigorous standards set for students today. The answer is not less math, but more. Without these basic skills in mathematics and other STEM related subjects, students are not at the level of college readiness that they need to be at. Higher standards will allow students to grow and meet the standards, instead of falling behind.
Students who took any AP math were three times more likely to complete college than those who took just Algebra II. So the more rigorous math courses our students take, the better their chances.
