A Louisiana grant allows a large group of K-5 teachers to attend a new LaSIP class. The class will increase the teachers math knowledge and teach them knew methods to transfer the knowledge to students. The core of the new class will focus around algebra, fractions, and numbers and operations teaching methodology. Teachers began by showing their traditional in class methods of teaching these subjects on a white board in groups of four. Rapides Parish School District officials are planning to implement these new methods during the next school year. Traditional “Eureka” methods of teaching will remain in place until then.
