Brenda Konicke, a math teaching consultant, recently taught teachers from Perkin District 108 how to use hands-on items to help students grasp math concepts. People learn differently, and the old teaching methods don’t work for all students. Using shaped objects can often help a student understand a math problem that an equation on a blackboard cannot. It is an outside the box teaching method that has already proved its worth with students that struggle with math.
