One-on-one math tutoring produced medically verifiable brain improvement in a study at Stanford University. Students were given MRI brain scans before and after eight weeks of tutoring structured for individual needs. Some of the students had math learning disabilities and some were typically developing math students. Brain scans before the tutoring demonstrated differences in specific brain areas. After the tutoring, the brains were almost alike, demonstrating physical changes occurred in the brain. Researchers are continuing to do additional studies based on their findings.
