Hundreds of middle school students in Springfield did not mind giving up their spring break to attend math various math academies taking place in local middle schools. With a much lower teacher to student ratio than during the normal school day, the students participated in hands on projects designed to improve their math skills. The purpose of the academies is to increase the students’ math scores on the upcoming PARCC exams.
