Common Core standards are relatively new. The debate goes on about how far they reach. While not a curriculum proper Common Core standards do affect teaching in the classroom. Results so far are positive in the effort to give students a back story with their math but parents are concerned the efforts are still too much. Some parents do not want their kids to be part of an experiment while others think that math itself is enough. Time will tell if Common Core is worth the effort publicly and in the classroom.
