The New Hub for Intelligence

Nigeria has officially launched its first National Artificial Intelligence Centre of Excellence, marking a significant milestone in the country’s efforts to strengthen local research and skill development. Unveiled at the University of Jos during its 50th convocation ceremony, the centre serves as a national hub for advanced research, innovation, and policy engagement. The initiative is supported by the federal government through the Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy.

Minister Bosun Tijani emphasized that this launch reflects a determination to move beyond being a passive consumer of technology. Instead, the initiative positions Nigeria as an active participant in how global systems are designed and deployed. With a population exceeding 240 million, the goal is to ensure that the next generation is equipped to lead rather than follow.
