Punjab Opens 25 AI-Powered Career Labs for Public School Students

Punjab’s Education Department launched 25 AI-enabled Career Guidance Labs across government and Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) schools on December 21, 2025. The initiative, delivered in partnership with ed-tech company Beyond Mentor, represents India’s first systematic effort to bring AI-driven career counseling into public education. Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains inaugurated the pilot at Government Senior Secondary School in Nangal and Government Senior Secondary School for Girls in Sri Anandpur Sahib.

Students beginning in Class 6 can access the program at no cost. The process starts with an AI-based aptitude and interest assessment, which generates individualized career reports outlining both academic and vocational pathways. Professional counselors then conduct one-on-one sessions with students and their parents to develop actionable career plans. “Career guidance should not be a luxury,” Minister Bains stated. “By bringing structured, AI-powered counselling into our government schools, we are ensuring every child, irrespective of their socio-economic background, can make an informed choice.”
