UNESCO has launched the AI in Education Observatory for Latin America and the Caribbean, a regional platform designed to support States in integrating artificial intelligence into their education systems.
The Observatory is the first regional platform anchored in the United Nations system dedicated to AI in education in Latin America and the Caribbean. It aims to generate evidence, strengthen capacities, and build the resilience that education systems need to navigate the transformation with judgment, equity, and a sense of public purpose.
Latin America and the Caribbean face a twofold urgency: a learning crisis and the rapid adoption of artificial intelligence in education. The region continues to struggle with deep gaps in learning, inclusion, and educational quality, while AI is already affecting the way students, teachers, and institutions access information, teach, learn, and manage educational processes.
The integration of AI in education requires a people-centered approach, ensuring that technology serves the right to education and promotes inclusive, equitable, and quality learning for all.

The Observatory connects UNESCO’s global normative work with the needs, capacities, and priorities of countries, aiming to strengthen foundational learning, expand inclusion, and prepare the region to participate actively and equitably in shaping the present and future of the AI era.
