Children who struggle with reading early in their educations may be apt to be helped sooner by teachers who have been trained to identify the neurological dysfunction dyslexia. Children with dyslexia are smart and need to be taught to lean differently. House Bill 278/Senate Bill 15 will establish dyslexia education programs in Maryland. This will not only establish screening for dyslexia, but also how to teach those that are dyslexic. State and local boards of education govern how special education is implemented. Dyslexia is a specific learning disability.
