Everyone has to learn the times tables, but rote memorization does not work for every child. This article collects a number of tricks to help children learn and retain their multiplication basics. Learning the commutative property of multiplication as well as the rules regarding one and zero drastically cuts down on the number of equations a child is faced with learning. Other tricks include counting by fives, remembering doubles of numbers, and a nifty trick with your fingers to help conquer the nine times table.
