Jun Yoon had problems with being and quiet and shy as a young student. Coming from Korea at the age of 8, Yoon did not always fit in. Debating gave him an outlet to express his thoughts and to be part of a group. Now that Yoon is a teacher himself, he tries to reach out to the shy kids around him and get them involved in learning.

Yoon volunteers hours out of his day to help students to prepare for debates and to inspire deep thinking. As a math teacher, he uses innovative techniques to keep his students engaged in mathematics and to keep it interesting. Jun Yoon has received several awards for his work with his students.
