Sixteen eighth grade girls from around Grand Forks school district were hand selected by their teachers to participate in a new program, Girls Tech Club. All had high aptitudes in science technology, engineering, and math related subjects. The purpose of the program is to provide these girls with experiences, prior to high school, in fields that have been and still are traditionally male oriented. In this way, they can choose classes that fit with their future career goals. They also make connections with adult female experts in these fields giving them positive role models. Not only do they learn new things, they have fun doing it.
