Students in the United States are doing poorly in math compared to other countries. Of the 35 countries that are part of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, the United States ranks just 31st. Something in the American education system needs to change so that our children can hold their own on the worlds math stage.

American students are not taught math early enough.
One possible concern is that young children are not being exposed to math at an early enough age. Studies show that very young children at a preschool age need to be surrounded by number words and concepts so that they are better prepared to begin learning math in kindergarten. This is just one way that we can better the future for our students.
