For some West Middle School students math isn’t just a theory. Twice each week some of these students develop and practice their math skills by hand building boats under RED8 Boatworks instructor Adam Burks. Burks was inspired by Joe Youcha’s Building to Teach program. Youcha developed the program when he realized that math was easier for him when he found real world applications for it. Burks’ students seem to agree.
