South Carolina has replaced Common Core standards with a set of standards developed by in-state educators. While the writers of the new standard are certain that it is better than Common Core doubts persist namely Indiana’s similar overhaul that has been shown to be nearly identical to Common Core. According to South Carolina’s own Education Oversight committee it appears they too have developed a near identical Common Core program much like Indiana. But a notable improvement is this new program increases the math requirement to include Calculus; Common Core only reaches Algebra 2 levels.
