Victoria College understands that many people are intimidated by math and this anxiety causes them to struggle with the subject. Instructors like Melanie Yosko work to make math fun and less intimidating, with jokes and music. The college also reminds students that grades show their level of understanding, not their intelligence and that it’s okay to take a lower level math class to build basic skills. Their goal is for their students to have less math anxiety and feel confident using real world math to do things like balance a checkbook and figure out a tip.
