Understanding the Challenges of Traditional Storytime for Dyslexic Families
For many families, reading together is a cornerstone of childhood development. However, when dyslexia is present, the pressure to decode words can turn this activity into a source of stress rather than enjoyment. Kirsty Heap’s personal experience with dyslexia and her struggles with reading to her children inspired her to create a new approach. By removing the text, “Silent Snow” allows parents and children to focus on the narrative and imagination, rather than the mechanics of reading.
