A shocking fact about the link between women’s education and child mortality rates is that mortality in children under 5 years of age could be almost halved if all women had secondary education. Even with all women having primary school education only, child mortality rates could be reduced 15%. This reduction in mortality would account for between .9 and 2.8 million children each year.
