India’s AI Ecosystem Gets Mapped

Launched on day three of the India AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi (February 19-20), the compendium was announced by Shri Abhishek Singh, Additional Secretary at MeitY, NIC Director General, and IndiaAI CEO. The book summarizes experiences from startups working in healthcare, agriculture, education, and emerging technologies like foundation models and edge AI.

The mapping reveals that healthcare leads in AI adoption, followed by agriculture and education. There’s been significant growth in Indian-context voice and vision applications, waste-tech solutions, and indigenous infrastructure development. Notably, almost half of local startup ventures focus at the community level, while 68% of growth-stage companies have already expanded internationally.
